In 1974, the townspeople suspected that the Sawyer family were responsible for the first massacre. A vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer house, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family, and one mob member stole their baby. Decades later a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from her grandmother that she has never met. She thought her grandparents were dead, so she decides to bring her friends along on the road trip to investigate her inheritance. On arrival she uncovers she has inherited a mansion but is yet to uncover the terrors that lurk in the basement below it.
On the way the group picks up a hitchhiker they almost run over with their van. Once they get to the house Leatherface surfaces from the basement to pick them off one by one.
I'm not going to spoil the movie for those who want to watch the movie, but I can tell you this much, don't. This is the most disappointing addition to the Texas Chainsaw series. The first half of the movie plays like a modern remake of the original. They are going to see a relative's house, driving to Texas in a VW van and picking up a hitchhiker. It's pretty much a new idea.
I have heard that it was going to be a remake of the sequel, the one with Dennis Hopper, but no it is not. There is a carnival scene in the movie, but it only lasts about 10 mins. The rest of the movie is newer material, and it keeps the vigilante mood which was good. They could have done a better job on the movie. The 3-D scenes are the opening credits and mostly chainsaw blade comes out of the screen. The teen victims are not worth worrying over at all. I wanted them to be killed. They were terrible. That's my piece on this movie. The bad thing about it is I'm a huge fan of the series, so I was looking forward to seeing the movie. You can't win'em all.
